Childproof Your World: Preparing For National Safety Month

Injuries can impact quality of life for children and their families. To help everyone live life to the fullest, why not take advantage of National Safety Month? Research from the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control also notes the following statistics:

  • Approximately 12,000 children and young adults die from unintentional injuries each year.
  • Falls account for about 8,000 hospital emergency room visits each day and are the leading cause of nonfatal injury for children.
  • Each year, 2,000 children under the age of 14 die as a result of a home injury, which includes fire and burns, suffocation, drowning, firearms, choking, and poisoning.
  • About 100 children are killed and 254,000 are injured each year from bicycle-related accidents.
