Distracted Driving Awareness Month

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), research shows that drivers ages 16 to 24 have been observed using handheld electronic devices while driving at a higher rate than older drivers since at least 2007. Many individuals are still texting (and even snapping) while driving!

With April being Distracted Driving Awareness Month, it’s a good time to remind those around us to take responsibility for the choices they make while on the road and to operate motor vehicles safely. Consider our new distracted driving info cards for younger drivers that highlight the dangers of posting or snapping while driving. The belief that one can multitask while driving is a myth!

For the remainder of the month of April, you can use promo code APR22 and get 10% Reflective Zipper Pulls for orders of $375 or more. Help provide road safety as a whole by granting greater visibility for children in your community. You can also promote your organization with custom branding!

What else does recent data show? A new survey, commissioned by Advocates for Highway & Auto Safety, found that 86% of Americans admitted to using a mobile device when driving for work at some point in the last three months. Other sobering statistics included:

  • 73% said they talked, video called, or texted while driving.
  • 45% said they checked social media or used an app.
  • 30% said they took a photo.
  • 25% said they checked or sent an email.
