National Dog Bite Prevention Week

We welcome the month of April which also means warmer days, later sunsets, flowers blooming, children playing outside – and for those pet owners – perhaps longer walks with the dog!

We want to recognize it’s currently Prevent Cruelty to Animals Month and with that comes National Dog Bite Prevention Week starting April 10th. At I’m Safe, we’re proud to provide resources that you can customize to help raise awareness and expand the reach of your current campaigns and events.

You can browse all our Pet Safety products on our website. They are all customizable and aimed at teaching children and parents how to act around pets and animals. Be sure to act on April specials too:

  • Window Cling Thermometer: Help remind parents not to leave their child (or dog) in the car! No setup fees to customize with your brand and 10% off when you spend $250 or more.
  • Reflective Products: To help everyone stay alert. Use promo code APR22 on all specials!

According to American Humane, latest research shows an estimated population of nearly 85 million dogs living in U.S. households accounts for millions of bites each year. State Farm adds that there was a 21.6% increase in reported dog bites in March 2020 compared to March 2019. It’s alarming to know that most children are bitten by dogs they know!

The American Veterinary Medical Association is making National Dog Bite Prevention Week a focus of their social media efforts this month and we can encourage everyone to help the cause by pushing the #PreventDogBites hashtag. They’ve also created a great infographic called Dog Bites by the Numbers.

We’re thankful for the opportunity at every age to be better aware, prepared, and healthy!

Stay safe, have fun, and enjoy the sun!
